If you are considering adding a Dogue de Bordeaux to your family, please first consider adopting a Rescue DDB. The DDBSA Rescue takes in dogs of all ages. These dogs are often owner-surrendered (due to divorce, illness,...) so that the dog's personality, likes, dislikes and quirks are known. We have experienced so much joy and love from Cleo, our DDBS Rescue girl. She was 5 when we adopted her and I couldn't imagine our family without her.
If it is time for you to add a puppy to your family, please remember that as a puppy buyer, you hold a powerful position in the future of the DDB - in health, temperament and form. Do not just "settle". I know how difficult it is to find/buy a puppy and it can take a very long time. What you ask of the breeders, what you demand in the form, health and temperament of the sire and dam, will shape the future practices of DDB breeders as well as the future population of DDB. You absolutely deserve a healthy, emotionally balanced, true to form Dogue de Bordeaux.
