Snapper Creek Bordeaux is not what you would call a kennel. Rather, we are more of a family. We fell in love with the Dogue de Bordeaux (DDB) after acquiring our first DDB, Kubrick, in 1993. Kubrick was purchased as a pet quality DDB and stole our hearts from the get-go. She was truly an inspirational dog and not a day goes by without remembering her, and the times we shared, fondly. The seven and a half years we spent together were no where long enough. After Kubrick, our 'family' grew and we have loved and lost some dear friends. We now share our lives with 2 Dogues, one spayed female and one intact female.
We believe in preserving the working dog as a working dog and train/show our Dogues in obedience, Schutzhund, tracking and weight pull. In addition, we are active in conformation showing and attend severals shows a year including many with well respected FCI judges. We are members of the Dogue de Bordeaux Society of America (DDBSA) and I am a Life Member of the Ithaca Dog Training Club (IDTC) as well as an instructor with IDTC. We believe the future of the DDB relies heavily on both the breeder and the buyer, both of which have the responsibility to pay attention to health, temperament and type. What good is a very typey Dogue that dies at the age of 3? What good is a Dogue that lives to be 11 but doesn't look like a DDB? And what good is a Dogue that cannot be trusted around people?
We have accepted this responsibility and hope to be able to make a meaningful contribution to the breed. These dogs are wonderful, wonderful creatures. They deserve the best.
Thank you for visiting our website. If you are considering sharing your life with a Dogue, please remember how you will play a part in the future of this breed.
